Dr Susie Sprague
Dr Susie Sprague is Team Leader of Biotic Interactions, a dynamic and innovative team that develops novel and sustainable approaches to reducing the impact of economically important plant diseases with application to modern farming systems. Research in the team focuses on applied research and delivery to industry, as well as basic research to develop novel approaches for controlling diseases through microbiome research, deployment of biological control agents, enhancing host genetic resistance, understanding disease epidemiology and phenotyping plant disease. The research encompasses a wide range of disciplines from transcriptomics, application of machine-learning and artificial intelligence, epidemiological modelling, plant genetics, disease epidemiology, plant pathology, plant-disease phenotyping, and multi-environment field trial evaluation.
Susie obtained a BA/BSc (1st class Hons, 2000) in Chinese language studies and plant ecology from La Trobe University in 2000 which included extended periods of study at Yunnan University, China, and the University of Texas, USA.
