Mzwandile Moya (born April 16, ) known by his stage name as Afrotraction, is a South African R&B and neo soul musician and producer. Moya is coming from a musical family and his love for music was triggered at an early age. Moya is a self-taught pianist and bassist singing Siswati in neo soul and R&B styles, and he has worked with many South African artists of different genres. AT FIRST cracking harmonies and riffs was only a childhood pastime but it didn’t take long for it to become an obsession.
So when Afrotraction (born Wandile Moya) was offered his first keyboard – by his father – he took to it like a fish to water.
“I was about nine years old,” he recalls. “The keyboard was one of those little five-octave instruments and like most black guys I started with the monotonous riff. You play that a lot so you won’t forget it and then go on to more intricate stuff.
“At the time, I used to listen to local gospel guys like Derrick Nzimande – he was one of the few artists I was exposed to. But über jazz muso Themba Mkhize is the guy I look up to now. I also like Randall Skippers.
