    Ken got his first big break doing play-by-play commentary for the junior A team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia– as a volunteer. The station decided to hire him and pay him to do a weekly news program. This was followed by stops in Calgary, Ottawa, Edmonton and finally Toronto, where he worked with CP24, TSN and the NHL Network, before landing at Sportsnet. He has been adding his unique brand of humour and style to the sports news and updates since joining the network.

    He’s a multiple author including his first book, a national bestseller, “Hockey Card Stories: True Tales from Your Favourite Players”, a compilation of stories from the game’s greatest stars. His newest book is described as “Featuring heartwarming stories of grit, leadership, and lifelong bonds, Ken Reid’s Hometown Hockey Heroes celebrates how hockey, and the values the game teaches, can shape our communities for the better.” He has also releas

    Q: You said a couple years ago that you’d like to play until you’re 50. Is that still realistic?

    A: I know I’m going to play to 50. I know that — if I don’t get injured. I never said I’m going to play here (in the NHL) until I’m 50. That’s a different story. You can always play ’til 50. There’s a lot of guys that play until 60, you know, just beer hockey.
